Solar Bears

I found mention of Solar Bears on friday via Rory's Oriol review over at Sonic Router, and been searching to see what i could find to download as they sounded interesting.

Quite impressed by their sound, it sits somewhere between the current chillwave style deep compressed hip hop sound, and a more Boards Of Canada-ish dream state. In fact, not a million miles from a lot of the latest Roof Light tracks

Cognitive Media

One of the blogs i follow is Varnelis.net which is by "Kazys Varnelis [CV] is the Director of the Network Architecture Lab at the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation."

He posted this video today:


The talk in itself is great, but i was really impressed by the animation and how, by utilising graphics, it really helps the digestion of the information. Right at the end of the video it links to the company behind the animation process, a company out of Kent called Cognitive Media. After a brief look through their site, and especially in their blog, they have a lot more videos in a similar manner. I'm looking forward to digging through them over the weekend.
